City Shelter Celebrates Carifest with Adoption Discounts

Rochester, NY (August 8, 2014) — The City of Rochester’s Animal Services Center will join in the celebration of the 30th Annual Caribbean Festival (CARIFEST 2014) on Saturday August 9 by offering $50 discounts on all adoptions throughout the day. Please note that Verona Street will be closed to traffic during the festival but shelter visitors can gain access from Plymouth Avenue or simply walk across the street from the festival site. Play yard activities will be cancelled for the day in favor of a group dog walk outing to Greece Canal Park Saturday morning but all dogs will be back at the shelter and available for visitations and adoption by the time the shelter opens at 11 a.m.

Come down to Verona Street to enjoy the music, food, and culture of the Caribbean and step into the shade and air conditioned Animal Services Center to visit with the adoptable animals,” said Chris Fitzgerald, Director of Animal Services Director. “If you are planning a day at the festival, take the opportunity to stop in and say hello. Or if you were planning to visit the shelter this Saturday to adopt, don’t be deterred by the festival crowds, and instead consider joining in the celebration,” said Director of Animal Services Chris Fitzgerald.
