This week is National Veterinary Technician Week! While we value their work each and every day, we want to take time out of the week to say thank you for the unconditional love and care you provide to each animal that enters our shelter.
Veterinary technicians provide the day-to-day care in our animals’ health and care. National Veterinary Technician Week was first celebrated in 1993, and provides an opportunity to recognize veterinary technicians’ contributions in our organization.
Often our veterinary technicians are the first people an incoming animal meets. Our technicians observe animals for changes in behavior, prepare animals for exams or surgery, assist veterinarians with sterilization surgeries and other procedures, give initial first aid, give medications, shots and treatments and maintain the animals’ records. Each of these tasks is critical to the operation of the shelter and the health and wellbeing of the animals in our care.
If you see a veterinary tech this week, say thank you!
