Letter from the President

Calling all volunteers! VSAS is looking for people who want to share some of their talents to support a mission of helping Rochester’s animals.

Are you creative? Well our furry or sometimes not so furry friends could use your skills. We are always looking for individuals that want to help create promotions around events, adoptions, public awareness, and all matters of branding and marketing.

Do you love a good spreadsheet? If so, then your financial and accounting skills are welcome. When we hold events, we need people to keep track of registrations, merchandise sales, sponsorships, and donations.

Are you a super planner? We need volunteers to help coordinate and run our major annual event, The Fast & The Furriest®. We also hold events throughout the year to promote awareness and find perfect homes for our temporary residents.

Do you have a background in fundraising or a passion for it? Then you’ve come to the right place. We are looking to expand our Development Committee so that we can have a greater impact for those in our care.

It doesn’t matter if you have a special skill or simply a genuine passion for animals. What does matter is that you want to make a difference. Together we can make a huge difference for animals and for people. So, if you are interested in any of these areas or you if just want to find a way to give back, let us know.

To get involved, contact us and a representative will get in touch. VSAS is a 100% volunteer organization, so people like YOU are the ones that makes it successful.

There are also other opportunities to get involved at the animal shelter or within your own home. If you want to get up-close with the animals and share some love, click visit the City’s website to learn about the Animal Services volunteer program. You can also become a foster caregiver for shelter pets that need a little extra help, which only a loving home environment can provide.

And remember, as we go into this season of giving, there are so many ways for you to make a difference. Have a safe and joyous celebration of life including all those little noses that warm our hearts and enrich our lives!
