Fundraising Information

By supporting the Verona Street Animal Society, you are helping animals get the second chance they deserve. By creating an individual or a team fundraiser, you directly impact the animals in our community by:

 

 

 

 

 

  • Providing food, shelter, enrichment and medical care at the shelter
  • Promoting adoption, lost and found, and spay/neuter programs
  • Supporting under-served communities by providing access to pet resources

How to set up a fundraiser:

1- To begin go to the registration site here: https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Rochester/TheFastandTheFurriest

2- Pick an event to sign up for by clicking “Sign Up” for the desired event and follow the instructions for the registration process OR click the fundraise/donate box to go straight to the donation page.

3- When you get to the donation, you will have the following options:

  • To donate
  • To donate to a specific individual
  • To donate to a specific team
  • To become a fundraiser
  • To create a team
  • To join a team

The Donation Page!

To Donate:

 

Scroll down to the bottom of the donation page and select the dollar amount you’d like to donate or enter your own custom amount. You then have the option to select your name, anonymous or other (you can write in your own), to recognize who the donation is on behalf of.

To Donate to an Individual Fundraiser:

Make sure that the word “Fundraiser” is selected. Then you will see the list of individual fundraisers. In this example, there is only one current fundraiser, mapletales, created. To learn more about mapletales you can click on the image and it will take you to their fundraising page. You can see they have a goal of raising $500. If you’d like to donate specifically to this fundraiser, check the box next to the word “select” associated with the fundraiser. You will then see when you go to donate, the amount you select will go to mapletales specific fundraiser.

To Donate to a Team Fundraiser:

Make sure that the word “Team Fundraiser” is selected. Then you will see the list of team fundraisers. In this example, there is only one current fundraiser, Trail ROC Crew, created. To learn more about Trail ROC Crew and its members, you can click on the image and it will take you to their fundraising page. You can see they have a goal of raising $1,000. If you’d like to donate specifically to this fundraiser, check the box next to the word “select” associated with the fundraiser. You will then see when you go to donate, the amount you select will go to Trail ROC Crew specific fundraiser.

To Become a Fundraiser:

Select Become a Fundraiser on the main donation page.

That will open the creation piece of the fundraiser. From there, enter:

  • Your fundraising name
  • Your fundraising goal
  • A tagline, which will show up on your profile block
  • Upload an image (optional)
  • Create your own URL
  • Personalize the fundraising message. There is a pre-created message already in there, but you can replace it and tell your own story!

Below is an example for Mapletales:

After completing the required fields, you can then continue through the registration process or you can choose to join a team or create a team.

To Join a Team:

Select the desired team from the dropdown and join. For example, join Trail ROC Crew.

To Create a Team:

To create a Team Fundraiser, select the “No” and toggle to “Yes.” There you will have the option to create your team name and set your team fundraising goal.

Once done, you can continue with the rest of the registration process. Once you check out, you will get an email confirmation to the individual fundraiser you created and team fundraiser with information and links to your pages for sharing purposes!

In the above example – Mapletales created her own fundraising page with a goal of raising $500. She also decided to join the team Trail ROC Crew, which has a goal of raising $1,000. As Mapletales raises money for her fundraiser she also helps Trail ROC Crew reach their goal!

How to Share Your Fundraiser on Facebook:

Go to your fundraising page. You can access this through the link that was provided in your confirmation email or through Runsignup.

To access through Runsignup, follow these steps:

  • Go to runsignup.com and login using the login and password you used to register for the event
  • Click on the little person icon in the upper right hand corner
  • Select Profile
  • From there you can see a list of your fundraisers
  • Select your fundraiser specific to The Fast and The Furriest

At the bottom of your fundraiser page, click “Create your fundraiser on Facebook!” From there, log into your Facebook account, select okay to “RunSignUp – Fundraisers would like to manage your Fundraisers” and you’re all set!

Fundraising Tools & Tricks:

Start fundraising early! To help reach your fundraising goals consider hosting a:

  • bake sale
  • garage sale
  • third-party fundraiser (example – a brewery donates a $1 of each pint sold)
  • a game night! (Everyone who comes donates a dollar to play that night)
  • a movie night! (Everyone who comes donates a dollar to play that night)

Have FUN with it!

Social Media Images

You can use these images to post on your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram page and spread the word about The Fast and The Furriest. Choose an image below, right-click on the image, select “save image as” and save it to your desktop photos or your mobile photos. Then, add the image through the social media outlet and share! Include a short blurb with the image, letting your followers know that you are registered for The Fast and The Furriest and encourage them to help you fundraise. You can also upload these images into your Facebook fundraiser to encourage your friends to give through your page.
